Up in the morning and off to work Work all day as a number for a jerk I have to wonder if this is the best it can be Home late once again Not enough time for the important things I have to consider if this is how it should be They say it’s good for the economy Toiling away 12 hours a day End up working half my life away While death comes ripping after me Weekend comes, got to work again Seven days a week it’s always the same Home late once again, just in time for bed This is not how I imagined my life I think my younger self would kick my ass When he found me wasting away for a wage They say it’s good for the economy Toiling away 12 hours a day End up working half my life away While death comes ripping after me Monday morning you know it’s all the same Saturday, Sunday nothing changes They say no pain no gain But it seems a lot more like no gain for pain Maybe it’s time to take control Start living my life for me Take a hint from David, Johnny, and Jello But something tells me I’ll be back again They say it’s good for the economy Toiling away 12 hours a day End up working half my life away While death comes ripping after me

about

After 40 years, the iconic Columbus, Ohio punk bar, Bernies Distillery, closed it's doors for the final time on New Years Eve 2015. We first played at Bernies in 1999, and continued to play there regularly until the end. Setting on the corner of 16th and High, just across from the Ohio State campus, Bernies was one of the last of the true punk dives. On any given night you could find the best (and worst) of local bands, touing bands, and often well known names. It was the kind of place that anyone was welcome, and a stronger supporter of local music. Our song, 16th and High, was written after witnessing a large brawl where a group of punk and skins faced off against a group of fratboys. We only found it fitting to release it on Bernies' final day. Rest in peace Bernies, you will be missed. We'll see you in hell.
